NileGuide Expert tip:
If you plan to visit the gardens on Mondays, be aware that the main building will be closed and no bathroom facilities will be available.
Description:
- Located on beautiful Lake Osceola, the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens is the perfect place for an afternoon picnic and lakeside stroll. The staff here encourage visitors to bring a blanket and food basket, and to find a shady spot on the grass by the lake. As long as you bring your trash home with you when you leave, they don't even mind if you bring a bottle of wine to enjoy during your
visit. Pets are discouraged.
Besides a romantic picnic spot, the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens is also rich with history and culture. In 1950, the house and grounds became the retirement home to celebrated sculptor Albin Polasek. The residence, galleries, chapel and gardens were opened to the public in 1961 so that Polasek's work could be shared. The permanent collection within the museum is filled with original works created by the artist and items from his personal collection. There is a small fee to access the
museum. Visiting exhibits in the gallery change regularly, so it's a good idea to check online to see the current collection. This ideal blend of art and nature offers the perfect setting to spend a peaceful and tranquil afternoon. - © NileGuide2012
