Description:
- Castaic Lake Recreation Area has two bodies of water. Castaic Lake (upper lake) is for sailing, power boating, water and jet skiing, and fishing. Boat rentals and a tackle / bait shop service the lake, which is stocked with various fish such as bass, trout and catfish. Castaic Lagoon (lower lake) is for non-power boating and canoeing. Swimming season on the lower lake runs from mid-May to mid-September. Some of the recreational activities include hiking, biking trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, and RV and tent camping. Rental group picnic areas are available for up to 600 persons.
The park is open daily, except Christmas Day, from sunrise to sunset. Vehicle entry fee applies.
Water-oriented sports are the primary recreations savored on this two-lake public site. Land lovers can hike, bike, camp, picnic, and enjoy playground activities.
The Castaic Lake Recreation Area is found east of Interstate 5 (Golden State Freeway) off Lake Hughes Road.
