Haiwan Park, located on the eastern part of the island right on the edge of the water across from the mainland, is a great place to relax. The park features many restaurants, dance clubs, and bars. Locals love going to the edge of the water to enjoy the breeze, watch the ships go by, and to appreciate the scenery. The park itself features several tall hills that have great views of the city. The central area north of the hills contains an array of continually changing lights and a space that is filled with vendors on holidays. Holidays also bring fireworks, and the park is one of the main areas fireworks are discharged by the city. The northern area of the park features a small amusement park, with rides, vendors, and go karts. The park is often filled with families, expats going to the popular foreign bars and nightclubs, and club meetings.
