Description:
At Rio Bec Dreams, a moderately priced oasis between Escárcega and
Xpujil, you will be greeted by the Canadian owners' four Jack Russell terriers, a friendly and unexpected welcome. Opened in 2003 near
Chicanna, the eco-friendly cabanas and 'jungalows' are carefully sited throughout 50 hectares of jungle, which is actually located within the
Calakmul Biosphere Reserve. Four thatch-roofed cabanas feature 4-poster beds with mosquito netting, private bathrooms tiled in bright colors, screened-in porches, and private fire pits. The five jungalows offer similar amenities (some have twin beds) but share bathroom and shower facilities. Rio Bec Dreams offers a much more intimate lodging experience than the equally well-regarded
Chicanna EcoVillage Resort down the road. Rio Bec's restaurant prepares some of the best food in the area. The owner will gladly plan tours to some of the lesser-known sites in the area: Rio Bec, Nadzcaan, Oxpemul, and El Ramonal.
