Tuolumne Meadows Lodge - Yosemite National Park
  • Type: Cabins/Chalets
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

Its rustic nature is not for everyone, but every tent cabin is full every night all summer for a good reason: prime location in a magical place.

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Bring a headlamp for those nighttime bathroom trips.

    Description:

    • Open in summer only, the simple Tuolumne Meadows Lodge consists of a few dozen tent cabins near the musical Dana Fork, a short distance from the main parts of Tuolumne Meadows.  High up at 8600' this location is full all summer because it's a chance to cool off from California's heat and it serves as a comfortable base camp for dayhikes, backpacking or technical peak-bagging around the Meadows.
There's a central bathroom/showerhouse.  The tent cabins have small woodstoves to take the edge off of cool evenings.  The Lodge Dining Room is a big tent where tables are shared with fellow hikers and waitstaff can give advice on local hikes.  The napkins are even trail maps so you can share your explorations with those you dine with.
Tioga Pass is a few miles to the east, Tenaya Lake a short ways west.  Free shuttles serve both directions from the Lodge.
