Getting Around

Shuttle Bus

Shuttle buses are the preferred way of getting around Yosemite. The free Yosemite Valley shuttle system provides service around eastern Yosemite Valley year-round. The free Wawona-Mariposa Grove shuttle bus offers trips between Wawona and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias during the spring through fall. The free Tuolumne Meadows shuttle bus accesses the area between the Tuolumne Lodge and Olmsted Point during the summer.

Public Transit

A convenient way to get to the park is by the Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS) (+1 877 989 2787/ http://www.yarts.com), which runs regional transit buses throughout the counties of Mariposa, Merced and Mono.

VIA Adventures (+1 800 369 7275) provides transportation from Merced to Yosemite Valley three times daily. Buses also depart daily from Mariposa.

You are free to travel in the park via automobile, bicycle, tour bus or foot. However, beware of road closures during the winter months and even during the summer for shuttle buses. A great way to see Yosemite National Park is by hiking one of the many trails.
