Description:

  • The Miwok and Paiute peoples were, and are, the true natives of the Yosemite Valley. This exhibit gives real insight into the way they lived back in the 1850s, and it traces their history and culture from that time to the present. In addition to the displays, there are often demonstrations of basket weaving, beadwork and traditional games. You will also learn the unsavory ways in which early white settlers treated the people of this region. This exhibit is free.
