North Pines Campground / Backpackers Campground

North Pines Campground / Backpackers Campground - Yosemite National Park
  • Type: Campgrounds
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

The Backpacker Campground is very handy for those headed out on the trail the next day, or just in from the Wilderness late in the day.

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

An easy hike to Mirror Lake from here. Horse lovers can visit the stables next door.

    Description:

    • Open in summer only, North Pines Campground is located at the confluence of the Merced River and Tenaya Creek, adjacent to DNC's Valley Stables, more or less at the end of the road in eastern Yosemite Valley.  As with most NPS campgrounds, no showers or RV hookups are found, but there's good access to Mirror Lake, Happy Isles and supplies at Curry Village.  Once spring runoff has waned, the river has a good beach and wading/swimming areas.
At the far end of the main campground is the footbridge to the Backpackers Campground where visitors with Wilderness Permits for an overnight trek are allowed to camp for one night either right before or right after their backpack trip.
