• Type: Campgrounds
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

You MUST keep your food inside the steel lockers at all times; the bear thing is no joke in Yosemite.

  • Description:

    • This is one of the biggest campgrounds in the whole NPS system, with over 300 sites scattered through a bumpy network of roads in the lodgepole pine forest.  At 8600', it's cherished for its cool summer temperatures and as a base for superb dayhikes, backpack trips and rockclimbing forays.  The campground itself features flush toilets, picnic tables and firepits.  Not far away is a store, a grill, and you can get showers at the Tuolumne Meadows Lodge about a mile off.
Half the sites are reserved ahead of time, and half are held for early walk-ins; there are group sites and a horse camp.
