See www.nps.gov/yose for a few online park maps. Trumbell Peak is west of the park in Stanislaus National Forest. There are dirt roads that go there from the north (Hwy 120 towards Groveland or Hardin Flat) or from the east (Foresta). You'll want a high clearance vehicle for the road from Foresta, 4WD could help. Roads are better from the north. Toward the end of the road, it gets rough again, sometimes the gate is locked a half-mile back. Short walk to the (remains of) the fire tower. Nice mountain bike ride; not too hard. Incredible view at Trumbell.
Right now, though, it's unsafe because of the Motor Fire that's burning in the Merced Canyon - wait for that to be over with.
Another good map source: order on line from www.yosemiteconservancy.org. That store has all the good material - more is available if you call them at 209/379-2317. Offices are closed at the moment due to the fire.
