What do u do for new years if not wanting to attend high priced stuffy events? Also is yos. View lodge any good or is it gross?

Yosemite View Lodge is pretty nice, actually. It's right on the park boundary, right on the Merced River, has a decent restaurant. There's a little bar and I bet locals and guests will be staying up for a non-stuffy celebration. Up in Yosemite folks will likewise ring in 2012 at the Ahwahnee Lounge and the Mountain Room Bar.
