Description:
This neo-baroque building was designed by Ferdinand Helmer and Hermann Fellner of Vienna. The ostentatious temple to drama opened with lots of fanfare in 1890 when Emperor Franz Josef did the honors. Mestrovic's celebrated 1905 Well of Life sculpture is in front of the entrance.
