Outdoor Recreation in Zion National Park

Popular Places

  • Pa'rus Trail
  • Weeping Rock
  • Well, of course you're in Zion to pursue some serious outdoor recreation. So we chose some of our favorites. And why did we include these best Zion outdoor recreation activities? For the varying hiking lengths and strenuousness, and for the gorgeous outdoor views revealed. Naturally, most people visiting Zion really want to see and experience the world-famous Zion Narrows. A less well-known but equally superb canyon hike, with strong elements of canyoneering, is The Subway. And we would be remiss if we didn't include Angels Landing on this list. If your knees can take the pounding of the nearly 1500-foot elevation gain on this trail and your head doesn't spin at the heights, it's a must-see. Emerald Pools are almost as famous as the previous two hikes, and they really are not to be missed. Some think Observation Point boasts even better views than Angels Landing--we'll let you decide for yourself. If you're a backpacker, the West Rim Trail is for you. A classic Zion trip, it shows off some of the most stupendous views in this Park. Plus, you'll have much of it to yourself as you revel in the backcountry serenity. Some of the best folks around to show you the best outdoor recreation in Zion are local guides. So we listed three of our favorite local companies! They'll show you the sights, schedule everything for you, teach you proper safety, and take you on adventures where you'll experience the best Zion has to offer.
