NileGuide Expert tip:
At Oepfelchammer, there is a tradition of drinking wine while hanging upside down from the rafters. If you can pull it off, then your glass of wine is free.
- Zurich's oldest Weinstube (wine tavern), Oepfelchammer is a family-owned restaurant that does its best to preserve its 19th century decor and its Weinstube etiquette so that former patron Gottfriend Keller, a famous Swiss writer, would still feel right at home. Clapping is frowned upon; appreciation for a rousing song can be better shown by rapping on the table with your knuckles or by buying a half-liter of wine. Main dishes include Zuri Geschnetzeltes Veal with roesti and other hearty steaks. Vegetarian options are available.
