NileGuide Expert tip:
At Oepfelchammer, there is a tradition of drinking wine while hanging upside down from the rafters. If you can pull it off, then your glass of wine is free.
Zurich's oldest Weinstube
(wine tavern), Oepfelchammer is a family-owned restaurant that does its best to preserve its 19th century decor and its Weinstube
etiquette so that former patron Gottfriend Keller, a famous Swiss writer, would still feel right at home. Clapping is frowned upon; appreciation for a rousing song can be better shown by rapping on the table with your knuckles or by buying a half-liter of wine. Main dishes include Zuri Geschnetzeltes Veal with roesti and other hearty steaks. Vegetarian options are available.
