Aragon Travel Guide

Thanks to its friendly neighbor, the Pyrenees, Aragon is mostly recognized for its exceptional mountainous landscape. Part hidden retreat, part natural paradise; the region is made up of glacier lakes, green valleys, medieval towns and awe-inspiring peaks. A history of Roman, Islamic and Moorish rule have imparted the region with a unique and varied folklore that touches everything from cuisine to traditional costumes. Its golden jewel is the city of Zaragoza. Lively and modern, the city basks in sweeping plazas, historic museums and dramatic architecture. The immense Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar is its defining landmark. But what about those mountains? Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park is one of Spain’s greatest unsung natural wonders. Spectacular canyons, waterfalls, forests and meadows can be explored on foot. Come winter, the region is a skier’s paradise.
