Central Valley Travel Guide

The Central Valley is the depression between the Chilean Coast Range and the Andes Mountains. The central valley should not be confused with Central Chile that encompasses part of the valley. At its widest geological definition, the Central Valley extends discontinuously from Pampa del Tamarugal to Ofqui Isthmus. However sometimes Puerto Montt is considered the southern end of the Central Valley since further south the valley is below sea level and only emerges sporadically in the form of islands until its last appearance at Ofgui Isthmus.
