Sofia Province Travel Guide

Sophia Province borders three sides of the capital Sophia but does not include the city. The land is predominantly mountainous; the southern slopes of the Balkan Mountains lie to the north and to the south Rila rises to the highest point in the peninsular Musala. There are also several smaller mountains and spacious valleys. One of the most important ski resorts in Bulgaria, Borovets, is located here close to Samokov.
