Lucien Pissarro, founder of the Eragny Press, was a painter, engraver and printmaker in the early 20th century. The Ashmolean presents a collection of his books and sketches that he worked on with his wife at their London home.
The beautiful museum, the first public museum in Britain founded in 1683, is situated right in the heart of Oxford and is well worth a visit even if you only have time for its extensive permanent collection. It’s temporary exhibitions are always original and interesting and can be followed with a delicious lunch or dinner at the rooftop restaurant, The Ashmolean Dining Room. The museum also has a cafe if you fancy a quick coffee, and it has a shop that is packed with really good quality souvenirs, gifts and postcards.
The Pissarro exhibition is free and is open Tuesday to Sunday 10am-6pm.
