Southern Highlands Travel Guide

Geographically, the Southern Highlands are very similar to the other Andean Highland regions of Ecuador; however this region is also home to Cuenca, the third largest city in the country. The Southern Highlands are a tranquil section of the country since, until relatively recently, no main roads led into the area. If you afford some time for this quiet valley with a strong sense of its ancient Incan roots, you will not be disappointed.
