Beirut and the Lebanon have the advantage of being an attractive holiday destination in summer and in winter. All kinds of water sports or just lazing on the beaches along the Mediterranean coastline are summer activities, but the proximity of the snow covered Lebanese mountains beckons with skiing, snow boarding and hiking during the winter months.
On 19th January, vamos todos, a company specializing in year around out doors activities in the Lebanon offers a snow shoeing walk to Zaarour.

Located at a distance of only 43 km from Beirut, Zaarour is a mountain resort at 1650m above sea level, overlooking the Sannine mountains and the Valley of the Skulls. The tour on offer includes two different levels of walk, a less strenuous one which allows for rest and picture taking and another one which is dedicated to serious exercise.
Both groups reunite on the way back which leads past the Monastery of Khenchara which contains the oldest print press in the Middle East and is also famous for its winery. Lunch and wine tastings are included.
