Chiemsee, known as the "Bavarian Sea," is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Bavarian Alps. It's surrounded by a serene landscape. In the south, the mountains reach almost to the water. Resorts line the shores of this large lake, but the main attractions are its two islands, Frauenchiemsee and Herrenchiemsee, where Ludwig II built his palace, Neues Schloss.
