Edgartown
Edgartown was once a large whaling community that boomed in the late 18th Century and early 19th Century. Today it is a popular destination for its many historic homes, many of which once belonged to famous sea captains. The Old Whaling Church is the oldest in Edgartown. There are also many charming bed and breakfasts, such as
Arbor Inn, and restaurants such as the
Seafood Shanty in this area.
Oak Bluffs
Oak Bluffs was once called "Cottage City," and it's easy to see why, with its many quaint, homes and lodging options, like the
Dockside Inn. Popular restaurants here include
Smoke 'n Bones and
Zapotec Restaurant. Events for the whole family include fireworks at
Ocean Park and
The Annual Harbor Festival held in mid June.
