Queen's County Travel Guide

Introduction

Queens County occupies the center of the province, is home to the island's largest city, and hosts the greatest concentration of traveler services.

The county is neatly cleaved by the Hillsborough River, which is spanned by a bridge at Charlottetown. Cavendish on the north shore is the most tourist-oriented part of the entire province; if the phrase "Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum" lacks positive associations for you, you might consider avoiding this area, which has built a vigorous tourist industry around a fictional character, Anne of Green Gables. On the other hand, much of the rest of the county -- not including Charlottetown -- is quite pastoral and untrammeled.

Two parts of Queens County merit their own sections within this chapter: the capital city of Charlottetown on the south shore and Prince Edward Island National Park on the north shore. Flip ahead for more detailed information on these destinations.
