Even in a Land of Enchantment, Taos has a magical quality all of its own. This historic, artistic, rustic and refined high mountain community is a sum of its people - Native Americans who have been here for 6,000 years, Spanish farmers and traders, Anglo frontiersmen, artists who "discovered" Taos's golden light a century ago, and souls worldwide today who are drawn to its quirks and communal good nature. It's history, art, dining, shopping, museums, outdoor adventure, cozy inns and warm hotels are all a reflection of this. Taos is so diverse and relaxed it's where New Mexicans come to vacation. show full NileGuide review
