Introduction
The government and most businesses and tourist activities are in Nuku'alofa (pop. 25,000 or so), but there is much to see outside town, including some of the South Pacific's most important and impressive archaeological sites. You'll need about half a day to stroll around Nuku'alofa and see its sights and a full day to tour the island -- half a day on the eastern end, another half to see the west.
