Does Anthony Bordain make your heart go aflutter? Thomas Keller make your palms sweat? Giada De Laurentiis give you butterflies in your stomach? Celebrity chefs and foodies are beginning to elicit the same cult following as their thespian counterparts. Get close to your favorite celebrity foodies by grabbing a meal at one of their favorite restaurants:
In-N-Out Burger: Thomas Keller of French Laundry and Bouchon fame gives props to the west coast burger joint, saying “There’s so much pressure to follow the what’s-new trend in burgers; this place holds its ground.” This burger chain is so cool it even has its own secret menu. Nuff said.
Cantina do Mori: Chez Panisse chef David Tanis recommends the prosciutto sandwich at this Venice staple. The local watering hold dates back to 1462, and legend has it, even Casanova stopped in here regularly.
Chinatown Brasserie: The Sunday dim-sum brunch at this downtown New York Chinese-American restaurant makes even Giada De Laurentiis’ mouth water. The sleek bar, and Asian-inspired red decor add up to a glamorous ambiance.
Longrain: This well-known Asian-fusion restaurant in Sydney counts star chef Bill Granger (of Bills and Bills 2 fame) as an admirer. Though the head chef is a “skippy” (of Anglo-Irish descent), Longrain boasts some of the best Thai food outside of Thailand itself.
Barney Greengrass: No reservations host Anthony Bordain cites this West Side institution as the place to get the “classic” New York breakfast: sturgeon, smoked salmon or Nova scrambled into eggs with onion, and a cream cheese-smeared bagel (from the famous H&H Bagels) on the side. There’s a reason it’s been around for more than 100 years.
