Flipboard: A Magazine Sans Subscription

When you’re on a cross-country or overseas flight, you can only page through the weathered copy of SkyMall so many times before you feel like you might go crazy. While the best prepared traveler will bring along a few books or buy a couple different magazines, you may quickly run out of reading material or even get tired of your flight’s entertainment selection after a few hours in the air.

However, if you’ve managed to purchase an iPad, boredom may not be a problem during that next long-haul flight. Flipboard is the newest and coolest app for the iPad, and continues to reflect technology’s unceasing progression towards media integration. It bills itself as the world’s first ‘social magazine.

The idea is simple: if you’re already on Facebook and Twitter, Flipboard will search those social profiles and select websites it believes you would be most interested in seeing and reading. The app creates a constantly updated magazine for you, and it allows you to stay on top of everything that you and your iPad considers relevant. Best of all, it’s free.

Flipboard shows exactly what kind of potential the iPad has to integrate social and professional media, making it increasingly relevant in a society becoming increasingly inundated by information overload and useless data. The app will soon partner with the Ellerdale search engine and continue to hone the application customizable search. It’s a positive move for the future of information and a must-have for the tech-savvy traveler, unless you want to rely on your Twitter friendship with SkyMall to keep you entertained.

“an open call means like anyone can go and theres no really specific look. Bring a good picture (like a headshot & a full length one) with a resume attatched to the back (even if you havent modeled you can say what activities you do or training youve done or dance or whatever). Also keep the makeup simple they want to see you! I would say mascara, tinted moisturizer, and lip balm with a little bit of color and set your makeup with a slight bit of powder so your skin isnt oily. Wear your hair pulled back in a pony tail or half pony tail and wear a black v-neck or something but make sure it shows off your body shape too! good luck!”
