Hotel Los Flamingos

NileGuide Expert Says:

Lunch by the pool, watching the woodpeckers hack away at the palms, makes you feel on top of the world - which you are, up high on the cliff, with unique views of the open ocean.

NileGuide Expert tip:

Make sure you request a balcony room to avoid the stuffier options and, if you do not have a car, you will have to ask the desk to help you with taxis as this vintage hotel is neither on the beach nor in town.

Description:

Erstwhile home to the "Hollywood Gang", the memorabilia here is a delight, and staff – most of whom have been there forever - are cheeky, providing classically tropical (that is, achingly slow) service. Despite the comparative isolation, prices are decent for room service and sunsets, from your room or the wide open roof terrace are to die for. During the day, cruise ship passengers troop in and out, lending a comical old-fashioned air to the style of hospitality. The famous house cocktails are generous and Thursday's pozole (pork hominy) is a ritual for many, in season accompanied by live music.
