NileGuide Expert tip:

Wait until Acapulco cools off after the sun goes down - lighted courts make evening tennis possible

Description:

With year round sunshine and fame as the home of the Mexican Open, Acapulco welcomes tennis players from around the world. All the major hotels in the Diamond Zone feature tennis courts, as does the Golden Zone's Park Hotel, which has reasonable rates. Tennis Coach Rodrigo Cerdera runs Cerdera Academia de Tenis at the courts and clubhouse next to the municipal Club de Golf Acapulco.

Cerdera, born in Argentina, was ranked 250th in the world in 2000. The tennis center features lighted courts, lessons, clinics, equipment rental, and refreshments. Court rental costs MX$120/US$12 per hour and if you want to play in the evening, there is an additional charge of MX$70/US$7 for lights. The Mexican Open, or Abierto Mexicano Telcel, is held annually in late February on the clay courts of the Acapulco Fairmont Princess. Cerdera Academia de Tenis can be found near the Hyatt Regency Acapulco.
