On a warm, summer day, many Amsterdammers head to Bloemendaal. As it is one of the closest beaches to Amsterdam, the 4.3 km (2.7 mile) strand may be packed. However, there is still plenty of space to participate in activities like running, Frisbee, football and swimming. If you like music, Bloemendaal also hosts several festivals. While you're there, try kibbeling (fried fish) – a Dutch favorite. When you're ready to head home, wait – many of the establishments turn into a nightclub. Be aware one part of the strand is nude.
