Description:

The Cine Titania is a discreet little movie theater standing behind a row of potted plants off of Themistokleous Street. If it weren't for the neon and old school box office, you might pass it over completely, but that would be sad as the Titania has what so many movie theaters have lost: simplicity and the love of good films. Nothing about it is fancy; popcorn is popped after the show begins in anticipation of the intermission- a dying habit in even the traditional cinemas of Athens- sodas are served in cans, the sound system won't make the walls vibrate in an explosion scene, but neither will the theater charge you as if it did. It's incredible to see it, but it seems there are still places where two people can see a movie and partake in refreshments for under fifteen euros total.

The theater features one movie nightly in two show times, typically around 8 and 10. Most films are art house variety: independent or foreign. English speakers should be aware that in foreign flicks, the subtitles will be in Greek.
Price: 6 euros
Nearest Metro: Omonia or Panepistimiou
Just around the corner from the Titania Hotel and Metropolis record store.
