Glyfada

With nicknames like "Knightsbridge on Sea," "Hellenic Hamptons," and "The Athens Riviera," one gets a pretty good idea that they won't be bumping into suburban hoi-polloi in Glyfada. A US military base (since shut down) gave the area a distinctly Americanized flavor; it has a mighty selection of stylish boutiques, chain restaurants, and upscale places to sip something from a straw. High level seafood restaurants and exclusive nightclubs help you remember that you're in Greece, if you couldn't tell by the wine-dark waters of the Saronic Gulf lapping at the quayside. Glyfada is home to Athens only golf course, The Glyfada Golf Club, and the former Airport of Athens. Access to and from Athens is achieved by two major avenues (Posidonas and Vouliagmenis Avenues) as well as the Tram. Metaxas Avenue and Grigoriou Labraki Street compose an infamous shopping district that rivals the fame of the more central area of Kolonaki.
