Avyssinias Square

Address:

Ifaistou and Ermou
Athens, Greece

NileGuide Expert tip:

To alter the old adage, go early or you'll get only worms.

Description:

Avyssinias Square is the portion of Monastiraki dedicated to old things. It is a wonderful place to go digging for gold, or trumpets, or coins and old photographs, strange books (even in other languages) out of date DVD's, vinyl records, armoires, oil lamps... you get the idea.

Sundays are traditionally the days to go as everyone who has anything to sell can bring them here and do it without need of a license, but don't expect a reciept or document of authenification. Makes for a mess about noon, but it can be fun to get swept up in the frenzy.
