Alexandros Megapanos, owner and founder of Megapanos Vineyards, was one of the pioneers in creating Greek wine that can compete with the international heavyweights of wineries. He is a participant in "Wine Routes of Attica" and initialized the establishment of the "Wine Producers of Attica" wine co op. A visit to his winery in Pikermi (situated in Northern Attica not far from the Zoo) is a lovely way to get acquainted with Greek wines, in general. Alexandros talks about the wines as if they were people and offers a tasting of several varieties of white, rose, and red. The dining room inside is a special place for business lunches or special events. Wine accompanies several courses as provided by an on site chef. Should you like what you taste, the gift shop offers many special bottles of wines that are difficult to find elsewhere.
