A bit of a secret, the Wintergardens are not known to a great many visitors. Located within the Domain and just a short walk from the Auckland War Memorial museum, the Wintergardens consist of two glasshouses, one temperate and one tropical, plus a fernery and a large fountain in the middle courtyard.It's a pleasant place to have a stroll and in the winter it's nice to come in and warm up while imagining you are in the tropics. Just outside there is a duck pond and a small cafe making this a nice place for a family with young children to chill out from a day's sightseeing. It's free to go in.
