Description:

The Augusta Nature Center is a "green" gem in the heart of urban Augusta. Operated by the Augusta Nature Club, the center features 5 miles of trail that winds its way through 175 acres of surprisingly diverse natural features. Visitors will enjoy viewing a wide variety of native Maine flowers as they pass by historic quarries, lily ponds, beaver dams, small waterfalls and even a cave. Most of the trail is level, making it largely accessible to walkers of all abilities. The trail is a favorite with casual walkers, day hikers, snow shoers and cross country skiers. There is no admission fee and the center is open 365 days per year. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the trail. For those seeking a touch of woodlands magic in the midst of a busy urban metropolis, the Augusta Nature Center is a choice destination. Access to the center itself is possible near the Augusta's Vocational Technical Center, located at 40 Pierce Drive.
