The huge Mae Ya Waterfall is definitely one of the best in Chiang Mai province. At over 230 metres high is the tallest in Doi Inthanon National Park and it tumbles down a steep and wide, triangular slope into a lovely pool. The waterfall is often hailed as one of the best in Thailand and is popular as a result. There is a tented area with places to eat and but the falls are also a good place for a family picnic. While part of this waterfall is steep in parts, there are also some calm pools. The falls can get quite thunderous after a good bit of rain. Mae Ya Waterfall is located around 500 metres long a nature walk from the parking area. There are tours that run the falls but DIY as part of a Doi Inthanon day trip is definitely the better option.Map:
