Castle Mountain is one of Alberta's most easily recognizable peaks, and also one of Canada's most easily accessible mountains. It can be found at the junction of Highway 1 and Highway 93 (which is one of the world's most gorgeous drives, by the way). This spot is almost exactly half-way between Banff and Lake Louise, and it's where you can find the Castle Mountain Chalets. These beautiful chalets are individually furnished and located in a mountain paradise. The Canadian Pacific Railway line runs nearby, a reminder of the history of this area (the train was, in fact, the only reason why Banff became a National Park), but it does not upset the peaceful serenity of chalets. Castle is near two world-class ski resorts, Lake Louise, which hosts annual World Cup events, and Sunshine, which is famous for its long season that stretches until late May. The 21 luxury log cabins provide options for all different sizes of groups. Some are handicap accessible. Some of the cabins are pet-friendly. All of them are non-smoking. There's an activity centre with foosball and other games, as well.
