Monod's was Western Canada's first ski shop, having first been established at Sunshine Village. In 1956, the store burned to the ground, and John Monod started over in the town of Banff. For almost 60 years, Monod Sports Ltd. has served the Banff community with alpine sporting equipment of the highest quality. These days the store sells a diverse collection of gear, but the original mountaineering, skiing, and hiking vibe endures. Monod's is a premier shop. They sell the top brand names and highest quality merchandise from around the world. The Monod family is famous within the skiing community of the Rocky Mountains. All of John's children (and now many of his grandchildren) race competitively. The technical knowledge of ski equipment is just a part of the Monod family's life, and they pass their enthusiasm for quality gear to their customers. It is a love for what they do that truly separated Monod's from any other large sporting-goods chain.
