Insider tips about Rome

Here's what Trippy members say about Rome:

"If you absolutely must go to the Roman Forum in Rome out of historical interest or just because you think it should be on every traveler’s bucket list…okay, I get it and good luck. For my taste, the site is overrun and the experience is overrated. If what you really want is just to walk among ruins of Ancient Rome, I guarantee you’ll have a better time in Ostia Antica, the seaport that served Rome in the days of the Caesars. It’s enormous, it’s decently preserved, and it’s one of the largest archaeological sites in the world — and it’s uncrowded and easy to get to. The Forum is intriguing for maybe a couple of hours. Ostia is worth your entire afternoon at least."  -Peter
