Description:

The Robert Mouawad private musuem is located in a 110 year old private mansion in Army Street/Ahrafiey. Knonw as the Pharaon Palace, the mansion was built by Lebanese businesman, politician and avid art collector Henri P. Pharaon, who amassed a huge collection of artifcats from his many travels around the world.After his death, Robert Mouawad of renowned jewelers Mouawad turned the palace into a private musuem. Remarkable are the fabulous wooden carved ceilings which come from Syaria as well as Roman and Byzantine marbles, islamic ceramic and pieces of Mouawad jewelery, among them the $11.000 bra which Heidi Klum wore in the Victoria's Secret Fashion show of 2003. Mouawad sponsors contemporary Lebanese artists too and their work is exhibited along with the antiquities and is for sale. Admission is LL9000 (approx. $6)and you are not allowed to take pictures inside the museum. A carefully landscaped garden surrounds the palace with many Roamn columns and statues interspersed among the lawn and flowers.You can take pictures of the garden. Opening hours are 9 am to 5pm- Tuesday till Sunday
