  • The fun dished out at the restaurants of Bermuda is as diverse as the cuisine they serve up. Whether you like it active or laid-back, the fun restaurants of Bermuda will not disappoint.

Coconut Rock/Yashi, a lively, informal eatery in the center of the City of Hamilton, is both a dining and a drinking destination. German-born Christian Herzog, with his two Bermuda-born partners, preside over a main restaurant and two popular bars where music videos play. The place is a bit of a discovery and not likely to be overrun. Within a separate room there's a sushi bar, Yashi, with one of the widest and best selections in Bermuda, including such exotica as flying-fish eggs and wahoo.

If you are bored of the routine and want to jazz up your day, drop in at the Jasmine. It is located in the elite and chic Fairmont Southampton Princess. Sip on your favorite cocktail and catch up with you pals and buddies. You can snack on the light and sumptuous fare. Brighten up your afternoon tea ritual with baked scones and sandwiches. In the evening you are treated with an entertaining charade of song and dance. The extensive menu features a diverse variety, ranging from pizzas to BBQ Chicken Quesadillas.

For bands, beer and great food, head to the Pickled Onion. Originally built as a liquor warehouse, overlooking Hamilton Harbour, this is a popular, reasonably priced dining choice and after-dark venue. You might begin with Caribbean seafood salad, loaded with calamari, shrimp, fresh mussels, and other local fish, all in basil vinaigrette. Angus beef, cut and trimmed in-house, is the chef's signature dish; it's tender and cooked to your specifications, accompanied by steak-cut potatoes and zesty peppercorn sauce. The balcony opens onto Front Street. On Wednesday, Harbor Night, the busiest night of the week, the street is closed off and the scene becomes a festive mini-celebration, with street performers and vendors setting the tone. There is live entertainment seven nights a week during high season.

Visit these fun Bermuda restaurants and, truly, you will enjoy a fun, pleasant and sumptuous meal that you will cherish for years to come.
