Nine Sacred Temple Tour of Bangkok

Nine is a lucky number. In Thai the word for nine (gao/kao) is similar to the word for ‘step forward’ or ‘progress.’ During special celebrations such as the New Year or Songkran, the Thai New Year, Buddhists in Bangkok will visit what are considered the nine most important temples in Bangkok — in one day. Give it a try. During Songkran Festival each of these temples has an information booth open from 10am-6pm daily. Pick up a temple passport and check in at all nine, saving the last visit for Wat Pho where you can be awarded a little souvenir for your efforts.
