Great Desserts Spots on the Caribbean

These days, I can’t get enough of the Lizard King Cafe’s Divine Chocolate Cake made with pure criollo cacao and Liliana’s Decadent Mexican flan, but since it’s often all gone by the time I show up for happy hour, I am satisfied with the always fresh seasonal baked goodies, like double chocolate chip and old-fashioned oatmeal cookies at Christmas, organic carrot muffins in spring, and Coco Limon Bars through summer.

With the welcome addition of the Ice Cream Garden in Manzanillo, Costa Rica’s Caribbean now has at least one little sweet spot in every port. However, it’s best to keepĀ  in mind that although dessert is typically served after dinner, finding it available after dark in Puerto Viejo is much more challenging than by the light of day, so better to scope out the selection before the sun sets.
