Miami-based Columbian designer Adriana Castro, who crafts handmade artisan handbags in exotic skins—like crocodile, ostrich, lizard, python, stingray, eel and watersnake—has been chosen to open Bogota Fashion Week on February 15th with her Autumn-Winter 2011 Collection. The award-winning designer, whose designs have been featured in Vogue and the film “Sex in the City 2,” has attracted a celebrity following that includes Sarah Jessica Parker, Eva Longoria, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum and Audrina Patridge. Her accessories are available locally at Green Grass (54 SW 10th St.; 305-373-7423), a clothing boutique that stocks wares by a number of international designers. And if you can’t get your fill there, head over to Bayside Marketplace, a 16-acre open-air waterfront mall with more than 100 stores and close to three-dozen restaurants perfect for refueling between stores.
