Xtabentun

NileGuide Expert Says:

The tortas are large, flavorful, and less than $5 USD. The chicken & cheese burrito comes with refried beans and rice and is also less than $5 USD. You can easily fill up here without breaking the bank.

Description:

Xtabentun is a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant, located in Coral Negro Flea Market.  It's on the side facing the lagoon, at the end nearest to Domino's pizza, or Sweet nightclub (depending on which side of Kukulkan Boulevard that you are on).

The restaurant is simply a glorified taco stand with tables set up in front of shops in the flea market and, sometimes, even in the parking lot.  Don't let appearances fool you though.  This little eatery has delicious, but cheap, food and it packed with locals most any time you pass by.  It's gaining popularity with tourists as well.

Xtabentun has tortas (sandwiches), burritos, fajitas, roasted pork, and many other authentic Mexican dishes.  They also have hot dogs and other international fare.

Unfortunately, they don't have a website, or any contact information, for that matter.  They are open almost all the time and are the go-to place for late-night food, after the bars close.  It's also a great place to sit and have a few beers, while people-watching.
