Description:

Patara Elephant Farm invites visitors to share the responsibility of taking care of an elephant, a hands on experience with the majestic giants that is not to be missed. The park is very focused on the health and breeding of the elephants and the 'Elephant Owner for a Day' program teaches how to interact with elephants, approach them correctly, understand its temperament, feed and check its health, bathe and brush it in the river and communicate through spoken commands. Visitors can also ride their elephant bare-back to visit forests, waterfalls or temples. The Elephants at Patara, have been rescued from unsuitable living conditions. The park has overseen the birth of ten elephants over the last seven years, is yet to lose one and has set eight of them free in the wild. Make sure you are fit enough for the ride to the waterfall, it's a little tougher than you would think. While Patara is far from overrun by tourists, almost all who spend a day with the elephants rave about the experience.
