Description:

A combination of zoo and wildlife preserve, Doi Tung Zoo is located in the very scenic Doi Tung area and spread over about 30 hectares. Also known as Doi Tung Wildlife Station, the zoo is a royal project and was first established to help many rare species that have suffered at the hands of deforestation. Many of the species here are rare and endangered and you are likely to see peacocks, muliacus, muntjack, bears, sambar deer, Siamese fireback pheasants, barking deer and hog deer. There is a shady walking trail behind the zoo, which is well worth a look. Admission is free admission and the zoo is open between 8am and 6pm.
