Near West Side, Greektown and United Center
Gyros welcome guests as soon as they exit from the Kennedy Expressway and head west. While the Grecian population is nowhere near what it was decades ago, Greektown still honors its heritage with a slew of restaurants that serve up the best of Mediterranean dishes. If you're visiting in the summer, head to Pegasus to enjoy a spectacular view of the Chicago skyline from the rooftop patio.Further west, you'll find the official home of Chicago sports fans: the United Center. Affectionately known as the "Madhouse on Madison" during hockey season, Blackhawks fans have had plenty of reasons to celebrate since the Stanley Cup victory in 2010. Bulls fans have enjoyed watching a team surge back to the top of the standings recently, too. While the initial onset of the post-Michael Jordan era was full of missed postseason appearances, hometown hero Derrick Rose has helped lead the team back to contender status.
If you're not here for a game or one of the few concerts the United Center hosts each year, you're better off heading northeast to enjoy the restaurant scene of River West.
