Description:

Built in 1972 and remodeled in 2007, Villa Arqueológica Chichén Itzá is one of five similar properties in Mexico; others are located in Uxmal, Cobá, Teotihuacán, and Cholula. The hotel is located an easy ten-minute walk from the archeological site's less hectic rear entrance. 42 standard guestrooms and 3 suites are tucked under long arcades in a modern building facing interior courtyards and an inviting swimming pool. The white-stuccoed rooms – about 250 square feet each – feel small, with beds covered in citrus colors tucked into niches. The bathrooms are particularly well designed. Meals are taken in the Itzáes Restaurant, an open-air dining room under a thatched roof, with daily meal plans available. Guests gather in the evening at the Chac-Mool Bar, named after Chichén Itzá's emblematic stone sculpture of a reclining man. Relax after a day of sightseeing with a healing massage by Julia Chi Poot, a local Mayan shaman.
